The Cask Wine Bar

We had a party of 6. The food was great, service friendly, and the wine was great.

Third time here and consistent great service. Food is great portions and calamari was perfect!

With the front door open to the outside seating, it was drafty and we needed to put our jackets on.

I booked reservations for valentines day with my girl friend. Upon arrival there was a small handful of open tables inside. We were instructed to seat ourselves. After sitting for a few minutes there was another couple that sat next to our table, who immediately received a pleasant greeting, menus, and champagne. The waiters finally got us the same when the couple awkwardly looked at out table that was missing everything they had. ordered food and wine and that part was great. We were both very happy with our meals and drinks but the service we had was awful. Long waits for everything and had to ask to see a dessert menu after waiting 10-15 minutes and continuously watching our waiter walk past and have no help. At this point the restaurant numerous empty tables, so they weren't super busy. Once we received the dessert menu there was another overly long wait for the waiter to come back but at that point it was time to just get the check since we no longer wanted dessert and just wanted to leave. Oddly enough, the check arrived immediately and charged incredibly quick.

The food was just okay, nothing special. The service was awful. Our waiter was inattentive and not because he was busy.

Service was off the charts great! Great variety in their menu! Great for 'Date Night' out!

The charcuterie and cheese plate appetizers before dinner were good, the service was attentive but not very knowledgeable, and I was disappointed by the Pinot (by the glass) recommended to accompany my order of short ribs. The short rib entree itself was pretty bland. I was also surprised the restaurant didn't acknowledge my Open Table reservation. After showing a staff member the confirmed reservation via my phone, they apologized and confirmed that the reservation wasn't showing on their end. That's a first.

Took my hubby here for a birthday lunch date and it was perfect. We ordered a smattering of appetizers, and split a wine flight and left giggling in love. All the food was delicious and well portioned. The wine flight was generous and we each had favorites.

Highly recommend!

Exceptional customer service: very attentive. I didn't care too much for one of the three flights I ordered and our waiter noticed that he offered a replacement. Will definitely come back to bring friends over who are just as goo-goo-ga-ga about wines as I am.

The high quality food and fantastic service makes Cask such a great restaurant! Absolutely my new fav! The homemade flatbreads are incredible!

We love this place and everyone we bring here becomes a regular. That pretty much sums up this review.

very slow in service with different severs that kept changing. Never knew who was our real waitress or waiter. We also had a screaming baby next to us. This is a wine bar. I don't think babies should be a this type of restaurant.

I took some out-of-town business guests (engineers) to The Cask Wine Bar for a light dinner and wine.

I was interested in a bottle of Pinot Noir and asked the waiter about a bottle that was offered at $60. He told me it was a good choice and because they also serve it by the glass, he offered me a taste. I truly appreciated that. However, I found the wine acidic and unpleasant to drink. This took me by surprise. At $60 a bottle, I expect a drinkable wine -- especially from an establishment declaring itself a wine bar. I refused the remainder in the tasting glass, which shocked the waiter a bit.

After that, I opted for an $80 bottle of Frank Family Pinot Noir (2012, I think) and found it a bit rich for a Pinot Noir, but a pleasant wine overall. However, the price seemed high. I can buy the same wine for $30 a bottle. I expect a 100% markup on restaurant wine, but not a 150-200% markup.

We ordered two cheese plates, which came with sweet spreads that seem randomly matched with the cheeses. On the first plate, honey was matched with the Saint-Andre and in the second plate, Raspberry jam was chosen. The cheese was good, but not great -- and not terribly exotic.

We ordered a meat plate with three meats for $17. They skimped on the meat with around three razor thin slices of each. And once again, the meat wasn't special in any way. I can buy similar fare in the grocery store at a tenth the price per ounce. It did come with crostini and spreads like seedy mustard and a very tasty tapenade. That helped to make up for the lack of meat.

We also ordered the prosciutto flat bread as well as the salmon flat bread. The prosciutto flatbread was very good, but we didn't finish the salmon flat bread. It was quite edible, but it didn't beckon me back for more.

We tried the BBQ prawns and the grilled lamb sausages. Again, both were edible -- but neither were special.

Overall, we enjoyed the experience and I would return -- but with much lower expectations.

The food was much more complex in flavors than I expected, with most items being hand made on site. The service was excellent and the owner was very accommodating in providing extra appetizers with our meal. At the end of the meal, we were also given complimentary dessert wines, which were excellent. The wine list is extensive and provides just about anything you could possibly want. We were so impressed with this restaurant that we are in he process of planning a department lunch here in May.
