Das Chequers schloss sich im Juni 2013 zum der Peach Pub-Familie an. Die Peach Pubs sind eine unabhängige Gruppe von Gastropubs mit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt Erfahrung. Unser Ziel ist, unsere Pubs zu großartigen Plätzen voller Charakter, zu großartigen und individuellen Orten zum Essen, Trinken und Schlafen zu machen sowie einen Ort zu schaffen, an dem die lokale Bevölkerung, wie auch Unternehmen, Familien und Touristen aufeinander trifft und den sie als "ihren" Ort bezeichnen würden. Jedes Pub ist einzigartig und wurde individuell gestaltet, um zur jeweiligen Stadt oder dem jeweiligen Dorf zu passen. Dabei legen wir besonderen Wert darauf, die Geschichte jedes einzelnen Pubs zu respektieren.

Incredibly slow service would sum up the experience. We were there for a Father’s Day meal, booked for 5:30pm. We didn’t receive starters until 6:40pm despite prompt ordering. The mains were another long wait! And request to servers to chase up. The food was good but by the end of the meal we could not face ordering desert and being made to wait any longer. Walked to the bar and asked for and paid the bill. Sad experience - and unlikely to return. There were lots of staff around, it’s a busy day but we often felt forgotten.

Food as always is good at The Chequers, having been here many times before. I fully realise it was Father’s Day (one of their busiest day) however on a table of 5, for three meals to turn up after 90minutes of being seated and the other two, after several reminders came over 10minutes later, this just isn’t really good enough. My husband and I ended up eating cold roast dinners and our three children were either chomping at the bit to eat theirs or waiting while we asked repeatedly for the rest of our order to arrive. Poor show all round. Will only ever go here on a quiet Tuesday night for any future visits.

Good food, pleasant staff. Not bad value. Only gripe is sticky tables, the spray and wipe process just leaves tables so unpleasantly sticky just waiting for bacteria to stick to them.

We really enjoyed our meal at the Chequers. The staff were really lovely. Cannot fault them in any way. The ambience was great. Busy but not loud. The food was, on the whole, really nice. The adults not wanting to eat too much were welcome to choose from the kids menu. The kids fish and chips were particularly good. The ciabatta with the prawns was a bit too toasted for my parents. They couldn’t cut it as it was too crispy. They wished they’d had the kids meals as they were amazing. Two out of the four burgers ordered were fantastic, the other two not quite so great. I would definitely visit again. Best place I’ve been to eat with the whole family in a long time. There were 10 of us so they did well to get all the food out at the same time! Thank you!

A beautiful lunch, every course was extremely enjoyable . My father in law reckoned the steak and ale pie the best he’d had in years. My lentil and squash warm salad with fillet was to die for. This is our third visit and certainly won’t be the last.
