   As great as usual....food and drink are faultless as is the service. This is a 'mint' pub and worth going to extra mile to visit.

   This was our first visit to The Chequers Inn after a few months. The menu has changed and not for the better. The menu was previously very innovative and more interesting than usual pub food. Unfortunately The Chequers Inn seem to have reverted to traditional pub food. My fish and chips was okay. Not the standard I would have expected from the chef. The fish portion was small and soaked in grease. The accompanying chips were in contrast a far too large portion. It was a busy Saturday evening and we were sat down at our table after a longish wait at the bar. The waitress didn’t ask if we wanted any drinks when she sat us down. We were waiting for around 15 minutes and nobody came to the table. My husband went to the bar to get our drinks. Overall it was a disappointing experience as The Chequers Inn was always our place to go to eat well and differently. Won’t be rushing back.

   We chose fish n chips and the leek and brie tartlet, both excellent. We found out afterward that the kitchen will prepare small adult portions, it would have been handy to know this up front as my elderly relative struggles to manage larger portions, we took the leftovers as a takeaway. There were only 2 vegetarian options, one of which was a branded burger rather than something homemade, I don't go out to eat burgers I can buy in the supermarket, another authentic choice would have been welcomed. It would also be nice to see confirmation of veg/vegan options clearly indicated on the menu. Staff were friendly and attentive and food was nicely presented so would definitely make another visit.

   Wonderful lunch - food excellent. The team were superb - a relaxed and friendly welcome. We wanted a quiet table as we were discussing some personal matters, and this was accommodated. Food and service excellent.

   Have been coming here for many years when visiting family and the food and service is consistently excellent and we always receive a warm welcome.

   BRILLIANT. From the minute we entered and were greeted, to our goodbyes. Amazing food, spot on service, excellent background tunes and as "Northeners" on holiday; really good value too. Generous portions but not belly busters....the desserts!!! Oh leave room for those! I've never had nettle soup before and this was delicious! We will be returning.
