The Ferry Inn is a serendipitous country public house with welcoming staff, character rooms, candlelight, open fires, real ales, popular foods and fantastic sunsets.

A 17th Century former smugglers haunt-- this is a pretty little pub in a lovely marshland setting with tables and benches on the front terrace and in the back alongside the riverbank.

Inside it's very easygoing and chatty. The main bar has hop-draped painted beams, a green dado, and stools against the bar where they serve a beer called Oxney Ale specially brewed for the pub by Westerham Brewery.

To the right is a cosy eating area with wheelback chairs-- ideal for a banquette with friends around a few long tables.

Bus 293 by Kent Coach Tours, Mon & Fri leaves Tenterden Town Hall at 10.30am. Return journey leaves Ferry Inn at 13.20pm. Ask Graham the driver to drop you off at the Ferry Inn and to stop and collect you on the way back. Adult return journey is £4.50, Children half-price.

As always, good freshly cooked food. Sensible quantities. Excellent new, but in character restaurant extension. And their Oxney Ale is good too!

Really beautiful bank holiday Saturday in the sunshine. Pub was bustling in a really good way, tables full and lots of people having a lovely time. The food was also lovely - we had a selection scallops and frites as a main course - gorgeous and really generous portion!! Burger which is served in a tortilla - who knew but amazing!! Pie and gravy - gorgeous. Then the only criticism - 2 pizzas - the bases in our opinion were far too thick you could have them and they would still be a thick base and believe it or not too much topping! The goats cheese was laden!!! Would definitely return and the staff were LOVELY

Booked online as reviews looked good. Lovely country pub. The food was really good. Steak cooked as I like it and it was a big chunk of rib eye. Definitely worth the money. Staff friendly and helpful. Tables cleared quickly. It was a busy evening but we didn't have to wait for our food, drinks or to pay. Definitely recommend a visit.

What an amazing find… on a short break and found the Ferry Inn by chance on the internet ..the food was outstanding, with lovely helpful staff, a very relaxed atmosphere in beautiful countryside. Really you couldn’t ask for more, I only wish it was near our home! Thank you to all the staff for a great evening.

Just nothing great to say about this place apart from Mazey who had a lovely smile and tried to engage, sadly she went home and she appeared to take the service with her! All the food was rather bland.

Lovely but food a little bit cool. Portion size large would prefer veg etc in bowls rather than all on the plate. Staff friendly but a bit slow. It's a wonderful place as we have been a few times furst time for Sunday lunch. I would recommend but personally this is my thoughts but dont let it take away from the lovely quality food.
