The Fortunate Fox
For a pub setting, it was very impersonal although maybe that should be expected given its locale (a large metropolitan city). The food was fine - not outstanding but fine. The service was still good and our server very willing to swap out a beer that didn’t taste quite up to snuff so kudos to him for trying to enhance the experience. Would I go back? Yes but it may not be my first choice.
Ambience was fine. Food was strictly mediocre. Service was slow. What struck me above anything else was after I inquired about poached eggs that were hard, I was told that I did not ask for them soft. I did not bother to continue argument and I simply ate the Hard poached eggs and the mediocre food.
On the positive side there was lots of space and it's a very central location. But anyone looking for a fine brunch with good service should definitely steer themselves elsewhere.
Just went for drinks. Had some nachos and it was a good time.
Our server was attentive without being intrusive. Decor is rather dark for my taste, but tasteful and on trend. We ordered fish and chips and vegetarian burger - we both liked our selections. Our first visist and I would return.
Had my birthday dinner there and it was awesome! They accommodated our party of 20. The food was great, the drinks were too, and the atmosphere was very fun and casual.
I would recommend as the service was excellent. Noise level was very tolerable and relaxing.
What I MOST appreciated was the noise level being low.
I NOW refuse to eat in a restaurant that is noisy and has music playing. I dine out to visit, chat with friends and can’t bear a noisy restaurant. As a result, I miss out on many favorite cuisines as many places I like are just too noisy ...beyond belief. How stressful it is to be yelling across a table when dining out with friends. I was able to chat in a normal voice and enjoy the conversation with not a lot of competing racket.
The best wings we have ever had! Cool atmosphere and great service.
Burger was a great value for $10 on Mondays. Wish they served breakfast still at 10:45 am.....
While the prices are of an upscale restaurant the food and the ambience is definetely not worth it
I was expecting a pub but found a comfortable upscale eatery with the best fish tacos! I will be returning!
Reserved table for 8. Had drinks and food and was told that we had to leave as there was another reservation. Was not informed of a time limit when reservation was booked. Left a bad impression for me and my coworkers who dine here often.
I was over charged on my bill, I paid with out noticing, I will never go back to this establishment
Welcoming venue in a funky boutique hotel. Doors open on the street and there’s a sidewalk terrace weather permitting. Half price wine bottles on the the Sunday we were there and nice and affordable menu.
My group of 20 arrived and we had tables set and waiting for us. The service was prompt and friendly, our drinks were never empty and the food was amazing. Highly recommended for large parties.
Nice place for a group to meet. Quite noisy to chat. Decent pub food.
Didn't serve the full menu until 5pm on Saturday. That is not made clear anywhere on the website. The eggplant parm and 2 other dishes were cold when they got to us.
The reservation was not recognized. The service was slow. The noise level was intolerable. No further custom can be expected at this location.
I had made a reservation for 10 people and the table was only set for 8. It worked out fine in the end, it's just frustrating when reservations are not honoured correctly.
A very noisy space and food is fair at best — too sweet, too tough, too salty, depending on what you order. The wait staff is terrific, however, and go out of their way to serve up your menu choices.
The Fortunate Fox is likely good for a drink with friends if you don't want to talk much on a Saturday night. The drinks are interesting and diverse. The food is not great. The menu appears tasty but the execution is lacklustre. We had 2 brunches as we were staying at the hotel there and a dinner with friends. I would recommend none of the food. It's a loud bar with comfortable decor. Basically just good for drinking and hanging out.
Booked a table for eight for my birthday. One of my guest received nachos the tasted like a dirty dish rag was wrung out over them. Other guest waited very long to order entrées. The server was extremely busy and hard to reach. This was a Wednesday night. The bar did not have tomato juice. Other guest reported that they were not offered refill on drink. I did not receive a dessert menu or any sort of birthday cake /dessert type thing. Will Never go there again
The food was good, the service-excellent. I was worried that it would be noisy, it was not.
I would definitely recommend The Fortunate Fox for a Friday night dinner and a drink.
Nice spot. Food was good. Service attentive. We were able to get a nice spot by the window and overall the place had good ambience.
Amazing service and accommodation for our additional guests. The drinks and food were really great. All 20+ of our group were really happy. We're making this our regular spot from now on!
Loved the look, food was great, nice ambience, great for a catch up as noise levels are low. Service was excellent!
This was a pleasant find. We really appreciated that the noise level was low enough that we could have a conversation. The food came out quickly and was good. The staff were friendly but we had to wave them down a couple times (maybe due to staff shortage?). It's great for a casual evening out with friends, co-workers or a small group.
The Fortunate Fox can best be described as a Pub that is attached to an IHG Property (On Bloor west, near Spadina); in the middle of the St. George - U of T community.
The Pub Fare is 'Fair' with Wings being their specialty.
It appears to lack character; as it's a large room with a horseshoe shaped bar that is the focal point.
The Staff were bragging about how busy they were during PDAC week.
Let's see what they do during the upcoming St. Paddy's Day weekend ?
The food was very good. Nice looking restaurant within walking distance of the subway stations and the U of T.
We asked for specific table and were given it. My 4 friends and I have what I call marathon lunches every 2 or 3 months meaning we are there anywhere from 5 to 7 hours and often order dinner as well. Since I've been scheduling the FF, they love it there so we'll keep coming back. Maxine
Food tasted better than I expected and our waitress was so nice and cool.
Great brunch locale
5 single girls wanting to spend a night out together on Valentine's Day. It was a great place to spend out night. Food and drinks were amazing and the place was comfortable.
Server was great. Knowledgeable and efficient. Calamari was tasty. Cocktails were good and reasonably priced. No ounces on the menu though. Burger was ok. Bun way too big for small burger.
The Three of us enjoyed our brunch at the Fortunate Fox very much. We will be back soon!
It was great!!
It was a really great dinner. Would go back in a heart beat. The server was really friendly and on top of it. Highly recommend :)
Schnitzel was very dry and overcooked. Fish and chips underwhelming - fish was mostly batter.
Not as great as was hoping, nice little cozy restaurant however the servers were barely paying attention and did not take time to note orders causing an error in one order which was promptly corrected, thankfully.
Great food for all ages and stages. Nice service. Everyone enjoyed.
