The Ivy Castle View
I didn’t realise that I was booking a restaurant from the actual Ivy group. We booked the day before so only managed to get a late sitting, but that didn’t matter as we had an amazing meal, great cocktails and fabulous service.
Excellent food and ambiance and lovely helpful staff
The Ivy Castle is a lovely place to eat. We had a lovely view of the Castle and lucky enough that the doors were all open. Very lively vibe, attentive staff and food delicious. The Shepherd's pie is to die for. My favourite Ivy so far. The only downside was a 6.45 sitting means you have to vacate your table 2 hours later and the service definitely felt a little pushy as we reached the last 20 minutes. Didn't really give you enough time for a leisurely dinner with coffee especially given the price of the evening!
fabulous setting and food as always perfection, staff also extremely pleasant!
We were concerned that the waitresses and waiters were not wearing face masks considering they were hovering above us and one sniffing
Faultless food, service and atmosphere. Went for a birthday lunch and it was so enjoyable. Highly recommend.
good food, good service and nice atmosphere as always.
Mostly very enjoyable although somewhat noisy. I have to wear hearing aids and, sitting near to the middle of the room, all the sounds were amplified and I struggled to hear what my fellow diners were saying. However, having since discussed the problem with the Polish receptionist, I have been made aware of the tables to sit at to avoid this problem in future. She was most sympathetic and couldn’t have been more helpful.

A very good experience, especially the service compared to other places we’ve tried since lockdown ended. Food also excellent. Couldn’t fault any aspect. Used to be a regular customer, will definitely resume,
Really lovely afternoon in the Ivy Guildford. Bar staff were very friendly and professional, amazing cocktails, beautifully presented! Thank you.
great setting lovely experience, will definitely be back
It was a birthday treat with my family.
Have only been to The Ivy in Cobham so thought we would try the Guildford one
Its beautiful there outstanding views of Guildford all lit up at night
Staff are very nice and as usual food is outstanding
Great food and a brilliant dining experience. I will be back.
It is the most lovely venue and service outstanding, food wonderful (lobster linguine is the BEST !) , yes it is a not a regular spend but wow worth it for such a lovely evening.
Fabulous afternoon tea to celebrate my sisters big birthday
very efficient, food was quick and very hot and attentive service
Excellent, attentive service. Ordered soup as a starter and was surprised it didn’t come with bread. Asked for bread but only came after finished the soup. When bill came was charged for it.
As always, great food, they can make a great dry martini and the service was exceptional.
We went to the Ivy last night for anniversary. Chris provided us with outstanding service throughout the evening. The drinks and food were excellent and I would not hesitate to recommend
Excellent as always. Lovely service, food & setting overlooking the castle.
My husband has hearing problems so found it rather noisy. The service was excellent. I enjoyed the food but my friends were less happy. The starters were excellent the mains not enjoyed by us all.
Lovely food, good price and super service. Would definitely book again. Thanks.
A wonderful warm welcome on arrival. Charming waiter and bus-boy/girls. Tasty sea bass, a T-bone steak and sirloin were ordered with some very tasty truffle fries and a range of sides - unfortunately we choose to share a sticky toffee pudding between 3 with some extra ice cream- it was simply to gorgeous to share!!
Favourite place to eat in Guildford. Excellent food and service as always
Outstanding service, good food and a lovely ambiance.
Straight after arriving got told that the table is booked for only an amount of time, not what would you expect to hear at arriving when is only a family of 4 with two young children.
Very long wait for food. Party arriving at 12.45 starters came quick, mains only arrived at 14.00 after finished we wait 10minutes for plates to be clear got bored and we asked for the bill.
Saw our waitress pouring water to her other table while to us just dropping the bottle to serve our selves. Not celebrating special occasion there again.
Good selection of choices on the menu to suit all tastes.
The food and drinks were lovely, however for the prices we expected better service, we waited ages for drinks and both times we ordered drinks we only received them after chasing the waiter. The second order I’m not even sure was given to the bar by the waiter. There was no apology given, we were just told that we would have had quicker service on a different day of the week, a strange thing to say when they’d accepted our booking. The food was lovely but for the prices I expected better service. I think for the Ivy I expected it to be exceptional, but it wasn’t even average service. It’s not somewhere I’ll be going back to for that reason, there are lots of other lovely restaurants in guildford that are a fraction of the prices snd better service.
I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was delicious, the waiters were very attentive. The drinks list was extensive.
It took me ages to decide on what to eat as the menu had such a great selection of dishes.
The atmosphere was lively and bubbly, near the bar but intimate in the far corners, so it catered for everyone.
I would definitely return.
Lovely buzz and lovely food.
What sets this restaurant apart is the consistently excellent service from the predominantly young team. Food always a cut above here than at other Ivy locations. I thought last night they were about to crank up some Ill judged music but fortunately it didn’t happen. Keep it up Ivy Guildford. Special thanks to Toby for changing a reservation for me at short notice. Top chap
Lovely restaurant, great food. The Saturday night music was too loud, had to shout to be heard across the table.
Lovely decor, well cooked food and good service. Not a fish eater so would have liked a few more options on the menu. Ordered a bottle of wine but as waitress so over busy ended up having top ups after we had eaten our meal rather than with the meal.
Cocktails and powder room lovely .
a good new menu with a fantastic cocktail choice. Food was excellent and arrived quickly. Very busy but a good atmosphere.
would recommend and return.
A very average experience for a very special occasion. We provided details of the special occasion we were celebrating, there was zero acknowledgement of this and no attempt for us to be placed in a great location in the restaurant with a great view or treated as if it was a special trip/. The catalogue of poor service and average food made for a very disappointing trip. We advised on the booking we were there for Afternoon Tea, there were no cake stand for tea, this meant that afternoon tea for 4 was service on 3 huge dinner plates, all in one go, it made using the table very awkward & looks appalling in terms of service. The cucumber sandwiches were served with slabs of cold butter that completely overwhelmed the flavour of the cucumber. Two of the four chicken sandwiches came with no greenery which showed poor consistency with prep. We were never offered a refill of tea or coffee, even if a latte / cappuccino is more money are The Ivy seriously saying they can't provide a second tea bag and pot of tea to accompany £27.00 worth of sandwiches & cakes? Both us and the table next to us had to ask for additional jam to accompany the scones, this is clearly as issue and 2 tiny pots of jam for 8 scones seems a little stingy. We regularly sat with empty glasses or cups and then one of the rounds of cocktails that was brought to the table ended up with a glass being tipped and partially spilt over the table and the flair of the cocktail ruined & no suggestion of re-mixing the £10 drink.
So, why did we not complain at the time, it would have ruined our afternoon if we had constantly been asking for help / replacements / sending stuff back & my guests were concerned it would be embarrassing within 10 minutes of our neighbour's table complaining about all the same issues, so we put it down as a very average experience & will not be rushing back any time soon, especially not for afternoon tea!
An enjoyable experience with excellent service and delicious food but so noisy; unfortunate that we couldn’t place birthday balloon in situ, though thanks for birthday profiterole!
Having booked for breakfast, as we frequently have in the past we arrived to find the Ivy has replaced the breakfast menus with a brunch menu.
The manager (very officious but not rude) insisted they had supply problems and staff shortages yet much of the breakfast menu was available with the addition of chips!! What a lot of rubbish and an insult to our intelligence.
So my view is they have chosen to open later (saving staff costs) add chips to the popular breakfast items like eggs Benedict at an inclusive additional cost of £5 (increase dining costs for more revenue) which from the customers around us was not wanted.
This is another classic business destruction decision, take a great brand and great customer experience and screw it up because some economically incompetent manager had a bright idea!!.
We are angry and sad that a frequent and great breakfast experience has been destroyed.
Will not be returning until breakfast menu reinstated and a more customer friendly manager appointed
no relaxing music could be heard - waitress uniform dirty - sat by window with morning sunshine directly in eyes - flies around window with a few squashed ones - take bookings for morning but did not offer breakfast - couldn't wait to leave and will not return
Tip is 12,5 % that comes in the bill. The service is a little slow. 20 mins sit in the table waiting for the drinks. food very nice.
Lovely place for a date or special night out. I would go again !
