PowderMills is a 18th C. listed Country House Hotel in 150 acres comprising of parks, lakes and woodlands adjoining the battlefield of 1066. The hotel is situated one mile from the historic town of Battle. All 48 bedrooms are individually furnished and each has a luxury en-suite bathroom. The Orangery Restaurant proudly holds 2AA rosettes and is open to residents and non residents for luncheon, afternoon tea and dinner. The hotel is richly furnished with antiques and logs fires burn in the public rooms in the winter. The hotel can cater for weddings, conferences and private parties of up to 250 guests.
The Orangery Restaurant is currently open 12 noon - 2 pm and 6 pm - 8.45 pm and offers an A la Carte Dining experience.

For a special occasion this is a great restaurant with a pleasant ambience and excellent food . The menu is five star and very special . While the cost is expensive it reflects the quality of the food .

The food is of excellent quality . The meal was enjoyable in a lovely setting . The menu was expensive especially the starter, however it was presented well and the taste was exceptional. Would recommend but would need to be a very special occasion to justify the cost .

Our visit was a little disappointing, we were the only ones eating that night, they could have suggested we eat in the bar area with other diners. It was disconcerting being watched by the serving staff all evening. The so called freshly baked bread was rock hard, they brought some more, which seemed to have been heated in the microwave, it was still rock hard, I put it in my veloutè to soften up. They had run out of carrots, so I chose a green salad, which looked a pile of weeds, I recognised none of the 'salad leaves' which had a few small chunks of cucumber hiding in the soggy mess. Very very disappointing for an apparently high quality restaurant. Will not be returning anytime soon. Thanks Powdermill for a not so lovely 37th wedding anniversary. ☹️ Service was excellent 👌 Lovely staff 👌

Food is great! Staff are friendly but the service isn't good. They also add service charge to the bill which is fine as the food is reasonably priced but the service is not necessarily up to this standard. If you are there for the food then it's fine! I would eat there again.

A delightful evening, food was fantastic. The restaurant as a real hidden gem! I had the steamed trout and my wife had Arincini for main. The trout was cook beautifully. For starters we had a terrine and a pea veloute with a soft boiled hens egg. this dish was a real treat. Portions were of a generous size, we had no room for pudding. The service was fantastic, kind and friendly. We will definitely be returning.

We had an amazing meal at this restaurant when we eventually received it, unfortunately the kitchen had a back log of orders and we had to wait just over an hour just to get our starters which was disappointing, however once we received the food it was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful, the atmosphere was a little too sombre for us no background music and lots of customers complaining service was good but difficult for the front of house staff.

When we arrived in the restaurant, we were given a small and very dark table. When we asked if we could move we were told that the table was set. We asked another staff member to move us which he did. The overall feeling of the restaurant was gloomy. Service was slow and we had to ask for drinks and bread. Food was ok but feel that it was overpriced for what it was. Asked for a tooth pick and was given a skewer instead!

We were guests at the hotel where this restaurant is situated and deliberately chose to stay here again because we knew the restaurant was extremely good from a previous stay some years ago. It did not disappoint, everything was as good as we hoped it would be and could not find fault in any way.
