The Standard. One of Hamilton's most revered restaurants, has laid down its roots on James St N. With our everchanging menu, seasonal & local inspiration and forward approach to dining, our commitment to excellence shows in everything we do. We strive to provide a memorable experience each day, it is just what we love to do.

From our in house butchery or cooking over charcoal, to working with local suppliers in our community We challenge the way we all think about Food & Drink.

If its a night out with friends, an intimate dinner for two, or just something extraordinary like sitting at our chefs table, We take each day as a new challenge to provide something amazing. It’s a bold statement and that’s why we make it with The Standard.

The Chef's table is a 7-course, exclusive blind Tasting Menu, composed of the best of the season. These are ring side seats right in front of the Kitchen where you will get to see and experience the stress, pressure and rapid fire execution of how a fast-paced restaurant engine runs. This is not for the faint-hearted, your experience will give you a front row seat to how it all goes down. Strap in, it's going to be a hell of a ride. Elevate your experience with pairings from our reserve wine list or a mixology pairing form our bar team. Please note that we are unable to accommodate vegetarian, dairy/egg allergies, seafood allergies or aversions to raw meat/seafood. If there are any concerns, please reach out before booking a reservation.

Another amazong tome at The Standard. Food, service and ambiance all spot on. We had the oysters, lamb and petit filet with the most delicious potatos. Dessert was the strawberry creme brulee and the chocolate matcha ganache. Vincent our server couldn't have been a better host. We will be back again

Service was great! Food was pretty good, we did the chefs tasting menu, most of the dishes were good to great, the cod was cooked to perfection, lamb was delicious, and the duck pate was amazing, but the duck breast and the scallops were mediocre. The entire experience was overshadowed by the fact that my wife and I were so hot, we were both sweating buckets and uncomfortable a couple of dishes in. We could see the other guests around us at the chefs table were uncomfortably hot as well. All in all, it was a good experience but definitely too hot, and to spend $400 on a tasting menu for 2 + 1 drink each I would expect no dud dishes

The food was delicious, but not pretentious. The portions were good so you won't go home hungry. The service was also great. My wife and I love The Standard and will be back!

Great meal! You can tell that the Chef really cares about good food. The biscuits with honey butter & marmalade where outoif this world. We had the roast beef Benedict - a perfect marriage between your favourite roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and delicious eggs Benedict - amazing. The Crème Brûlée was creamy and sweet. Non-alcoholic Ruby’s Rapture was delicious and perfect for brunch. The service was wonderful. Overall definitely recommend - you won’t be disappointed!

I have been here quite a few times now and it has quickly become my favourite place to eat in Hamilton. Tonight we had the oysters 3 ways (brilliant!) the tartare, the lobster dumplings, petite steak and the house made focaccia. The meats are always cooked perfectly. The focaccia is ethereal! Service is always very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience at the chef’s table. Server Ryan was excellent and chef Ivan was very engaging and added to the experience. My only slightly negative comment was that port I ordered after dinner……a very small pour for $15. That didn’t detract from the overall experience…..but since nothings ever perfect, something for you folks work on! I will highly recommend The Standard to friends and we will for sure be back.

An excellent experience. My guest has been delighted as I have been. The only flaw of a longer wait - nothing unbearable - for the starter, was compensated by the fact it was not charged on us even without having complained. Great service and food, will be back soon. Our order: asparagus small plate and hanger steak and octopus risotto as large plates. Wine: two cups of Malbec.
