Established in 1985, and located on Raglan Street, just off Princess Square in the heart of Harrogate, The Tannin Level is one of Harrogate's best loved and most renowned restaurants. Known for its wines (its name is a wine term after all!) as well as its food, it has garnered an enviable reputation amongst the towns sophisticated 'foodies'. The Tannin Level has a certain style and an unmistakable elegance, and its many original features combine to create the unique Tannin Level ambience.
The food is modern British with a Tannin Level twist, utilising only the very best seasonal ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible. As you might expect, all our food is freshly prepared by our chefs, which also means that if you have any special requirements, we can usually oblige. One of our favourite places to eat as a midweek treat. Overall experience was great as always, nice steady pace, no pressure and food delivered fresh and hot. One very small critique, the chargrilled chicken was over salted and dominated the flavour.

Was an outstanding meal. Me and my fiance had a very intimate evening. Thank you to everyone. Esp the main host. You were unbelievable. Highly recommended to everyone. You will not be disappointed.

The food is consistently good. The only criticism I have is that the service can be a bit slow, despite the number of staff on duty. However, this will not deter me from going again.

Although I fully appreciate it was a Saturday evening, the area of the restaurant in which we were seated was exceptionally loud. As a party of four older diners hoping to catch up over a leisurely meal, we found it almost impossible to hold a conversation and to make matters worse, our table was next to the constantly swinging door to to the kitchen, which resulted in a loud thump every time the very busy serving staff passed through it. An alternative table was requested before seating but we were told there was nothing available. We had booked our table several weeks in advance so our allocated table was very disappointing, Nevertheless, the food was very good. Scallop starters and monkfish mains excellent.

We have been eating here for many years and it never disappoints. The food was amazing - delicious and beautifully cooked and presented. Service good.

Went to the Tanning level for our Ruby wedding anniversary because in our opinion it’s the best restaurant in Harrogate and we wasn’t disappointed The service was excellent my wife had the fillet steak which I must admit I had a little food envy it looked and tasted exceptional was the feedback I had the market fish of the day which again looked fantastic and tasted beautiful For deserts we both ordered the pavlova which was to die for All in all the meal was good value food delicious and a lovely setting to celebrate our special day
