First came the pub, cheap drinks and cheaper food, then came the gastropub, an import from Britain featuring upmarket pub grub in a ale-drinking setting. Now, welcome The Waverley, which further blurs the lines between restaurant, social house and bar. The Waverley is the culmination of where the industry is heading; amazing food, unreal cocktails, cool vibes, laidback staff that know their products and what they are doing, refined tastes at affordable prices and zero smugness and attitude. We booked a reservation for 6 people on Thursday, May 1 for 7:15pm. We walked all the way there (we are travelling from another province with two kids) only to be turned around by the host at the door. He said he had no tables. I seen my name on his reservations list and told him I had made the reservation well in advance. He didn’t care. He said there was nothing he could do because he’s been having trouble with Open Table booking in tables when they have none. Not sure where the disconnect happened but we were very upset about this poor customer service on both levels. Do better please.

Service was excellent, Pizza was outstanding. Veggie taccos were tasty but light on the content. Would like more mushrooms. Fish and Chips - fish was overcooked and very dry. Would go back for the pizza.

Made a birthday reservation for 12. The restaurant was really accommodating over the phone, making sure we could have tables that fit all of us. But once we arrived our table wasn’t ready until 20 minutes after the reservation time. We work in the restaurant industry, so we double checked with the bar if we could order there while waiting or if they’d like us to wait until we got our table. The bartender said he would transfer our bills to the table. But once sat, the server insisted we all get up to pay our bills at the bar before she served us. When other tables started ordering bottle service, an hour and a half after being sat, our server insisted we could only keep our table if we also ordered bottle service, drinks alone wouldn’t count. She told us we had to bill out and leave. There were many errors on the bills, which we totally understand as there was a lot of us, but the server became very upset when we let her know which items were meant for other bills, and wanted us to accept the errors and sort it between ourselves.

Food was ok, but nothing special considering the price. Nice and friendly service. It was pretty quiet and chill.

Food was great, service was friendly, fast. Weird was only table in whole restaurant at 545-7ish on a Wednesday evening. Never ever had this experience. Would not want to do that again.
