Thousand Pound is back and better than ever. Reopening on Thursday, 5 September, in the heart of Main Street, Rutherglen, our beloved local is unveiling a refreshed menu for Spring 2024. Executive Chef Jack Cassidy (also of KIN, New Regional Restaurant of the Year 2024) has crafted an exciting fusion of modern Australian and Asian influences, featuring vibrant flavours from China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Nepal. Pair bold, flavoursome dishes with local family-owned wines, unique wine cocktails, and craft beers. With produce from our own farms and local growers, our menu will change regularly, keeping each visit fresh and exciting. I brought my family in for dinner and was greeted with a friendly face from the bar tenter. The food was amazing and was more than enough to fill us up. Worth every cent. Thank you to the team that night for providing an amazing service:)

An attractive menu with a different and interesting take on many dishes. Thoroughly enjoyed everything about Thousand Pound. Great service throughout.

The goat curry was excellent, but the cod salad had too much dressing and the fried rice was sweet (hoisin sauce?). The spring onion pancake had mushrooms that were super salty. The air conditioning was so high that we had to wear jackets inside which was disappointing on a lovely night. Overall this pace has potential but I expected the food to be better

Thousand Pound is a superb choice for an exquisite dining experience in the heart of Rutherglen. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and happy, which adds immensely to the enjoyment of a wonderful venue. The food is exceptional and complimented by a comprehensive wine list of outstanding wines. The ambience and decor of the restaurant is welcoming, warm and very appealing. Highly recommend for any dinner visit to Rutherglen.

My husband and I were visitors in Rutherglen and looking for a meal, we found this quiet little bar and decided to give it a try and we are so pleased we did. The food was so tasty, the staff were very friendly and attentive and the meal satisfying and good value.

Always a top notch place for great food, good local wine list and central location. This little town is so lucky to have places of this calibre to dine. Service was attentive without being intrusive and the young waitress endured my wife’s friendly interrogation with aplomb. Nice work 1000pounds, never a disappointment.

A gorgeous wine bar with great atmosphere however as an eating out destination the meal options and quality left a lot to be desired.
