Tratto - San Francisco
Great place for dinner before seeing a play at ACT which is a block away.
We enjoyed the mushroom pizza and salad and a glass of red wine that was "on tap".
The service was lacking and the place is TOO LOUD! The artsy menu is a little distracting and hard to read. The options were plentiful though. I got the gnocchi and I really liked it. The beef was tender and the sauce was the perfect amount.
My friend got the kale salad and it was way over dressed. Her pizza was good tasting but the crust was way undercooked. I would have complained. She didn’t. Then again our server barely came by our table so complaining wasn’t really an option.
It was worth a try but I wouldn’t come back.
Tratto is a great place for a meal and is close to Union Square. The food and service are very good, and you can have a leisurely meal with conversation that can be heard!
Noisy to an extreme. Food is ok, not great. Not much variety or creativity.
The mushroom, garlic, and truffle pizza was outstanding!
We like Tratto before the theater. Food is well prepared and reasonable in price. Service is lackluster..not that the servers are bad, but they need maybe more training. They know proper wine service but there seems to be little interest in performing above and beyond the basic level of getting the food on the table. Tratto has much to offer, a super location, interesting wine list, attractive price points on food, but I can’t get past the utter lack of interest by the servers.
Trendy, fun, spacious, delicious and thoughtful food. Fun cocktails! Can't wait to come again!
Good food choices, apps and pizza were nice.
Food was great but service was slow & the waiter seemed overwhelmed servicing so many tables cuz he kept going to the table next to us with our food & drinks.
Good food at a very reasonable price.
Firstly, the restaurant was beastly hot and our waiter (who was horrid) was sweating. Secondly, our waiter was slow, disinterested and obnoxious and did not make the restaurant look good. The food was passable, but the service and ambiance made this a place I will never go to again.
A rather limited menu, however, it fit our bill of wanting to taste various items. We had a frito misto, meat balls, an arugula salad, roasted eggplant cannelloni and a broccoli orecchiette which was more than enough for the three of us, plus drinks of course.
First time. Pleasant experience, enjoyed seeing the hotel next door. Will return!
Food was great with large servings. Lively atmosphere and good service. However experience ruined when we received charge on credit card $10 higher than we had approved in restaurant (which included a tip). We’re visiting from overseas and will not be back in San Francisco to action the overcharge.
Appetizer was cold. So we told waiter and said if our food is cold will send back. Our food comes out at once with salad. Send entree back so we could eat salad. Food arrives was microwaved burning our tongues. Food good but they need help
Great pasta, great service. Yummy apps and drink.
Amazing food and service! The pasta was already good, but then we tried the desert and it was so well-composed.
Great place! Loved the food and the staff were very helpful . I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice place in the city to eat.
Great place to have dinner before shows at the Golden Gate. Service was very responsive.
Friendly atmosphere. Good food
I was craving pasta so I ate here. My pasta was delicious. And the service was great.
We went there for a quick bite before an event. We had small plates and wine. It was all very good.
I would go back again.
Great Italian restaurant off of our hotel lobby. Convenient. The meatballs and bruschetta small plates were delicious!
The tiramisu had no flavour
We were very impressed with this new to us spot for pre-theater dining. The menu has a lot of different options and items that are good for sharing. The chopped salad was particularly good. Nice cocktail list. The space is airy and nicely designed and not noisy.
The service was the best we have had in San Francisco. Great recommendations from the server. House made Italian sodas were delicious. We had Polenta fries, butter lettuce salad with green goddess dressing, and roasted grape prosciutto pizza. All delicious and plenty of food for two people. Had the Italian donuts and an affogato with housemade gelato for dessert- both amazing.
I went there for my 50th birthday celebration, this was stated on booking and by my husband earlier in the day! I booked this restaurant as I read that they would help me celebrate, nothing was done acknowledged or even when I informed them said nothing! The waiter rolled his eyes every time we asked for anything and had to go and get another server! Totally disappointed and the food wasn’t good! Thanks Tratto for the birthday disappointment
Not bad at all -- just ordinary. Very limited, odd menu. If I ever go back I'll order soup & small plates. (The minestrone was outstanding as was the bruschetta.) The pasta entrees were just not very good --- the pasta was overcooked and underseasoned. Considering they only have a handful of entrees on the menu you'd think they'd do them better. The description of the place said "buzzy vibe." I have no idea what that means unless it refers to table after table of millennials looking at their phones and not talking to each other. If I rated this place on the entrees only it would be 1 star. Service was efficient but not warm or welcoming.
Excellent find. Truly delicious . We will return on next trip to San Francisco.
good location, nice and specious, liked tea with pot service
It was our last night In SF and Trattoria was a great place to enjoy it. It was lively and spacious and I loved the contour landscape on the wall. We we're served promptly and our waiter was knowledgable and attentive. The wine and Itslian sodas and all the food was terrific. A great night. Two small things we're not ideal though. First, the salad and the pasta came out at the exact same time. I wanted to eat my salad, but the pasta was getting cold so I switched to the pasta, then finished my meal with the salad. Not what I wanted to be doing. The other thing wad that i got several big knots of fettuccine, clumps that were not seperated well. It tasted fine but looked rather homely. A trifle I suppose,
Great food and good service. I loved the decor. A bit noise because it is in a hotel, but overall was a great dinner before going to a show.
Nothing special. Ordinary flavours - as if it is a hotel restaurant serving captive audience.
Good food in a casual setting
Outstanding dining experience!! Will definitely be back!
Excellent food and service!
I indicated when making reservation we had two significant birthdays in our party. No mention was made of this while we were there.
Met our expectations. Service was good and fast
The first time we went, we had the best, most flavorable, juiciest chicken cacciatore we had ever had. The second time we went, they no longer had it on the menu, so we were disappointed. But the other food is good.
Pretty cool place. The best arugula salad I’ve ever had, WOW. I had the chicken and it was great. Not 5 stars ‘cause it’s noisy, but maybe I’m getting old.
