This beautiful Grade II listed 17th Century Inn is nestled in the Dorset countryside on the edge of the picturesque, historical village of Bishops Caundle. We are located on the A3030- between Sherborne and Sturminster Newton. We are in the Good Pub Guide and aim for the highest standards of eating, drinking and customer service. First time visit. We arrived early (19:00) so not too late with not many people in the restaurant area. Nice bar/restaurant. Good food, good portions. Friendly staff and very helpful. Bit disappointed that one of the specials on the menu was not available even at an early evening sitting.

Booked for dinner with 2 friends. Service and food was pretty good, although unfortunately the veggy special was unavailable. The chef however produced a special mushroom pasta that satisfied our vegetarian friend.

Very much enjoyed our lunch ...beautifully served...extremely scummy and very pleasant helpful staff..easy parking and close to where we now live so ideal..easy to book online and they were expecting us ..very professional

Always wise to book as they get very busy. Great, friendly service and they don't bother you if you want to linger. I asked for quiet space as my dinner companion doesn't hear well and they paid attention and found us a recessed booth which worked well. I also go there often by myself and feel very comfortable.

Took three very hungry boys for Sunday lunch from a nearby school. They left raving about the food. No need to say more. Attentive staff , dog friendly but limited choice of beers . Who doesn't stock any IPA?

A lovely welcome even though we were late it was no problem.staff were very friendly ,helpful and welcoming .food was good pub food and even though we were the last ones there ,they didn't rush us out the door .

Unfortunately it did not live up to the reviews. The atmosphere was lively and the environment warm and friendly but the food was really poor. Reasonable choices seemed to be the fish and chips or the burgers but items off the specials were tasteless and felt as if they had been frozen and then microwaved.

Gorgeous tasty roast with beautiful pink beef, as described! The bonus of this pub/restaurant for us is that the bar restaurant allows dogs (well behaved of course, which ours were). The hosts and staff are always very welcoming and amenable.

I hadn't been to the White Hart for a couple of years and was very pleased I chose it on Friday. The food and service were very good and I like the fact that dogs are also welcome. I didn't take our well behaved labrador on Friday but I will on another occasion.
