Wok n Fire - St Charles
Great spot to celebrate a birthday!!
Way overpriced Chinese food, and most not very good. Horrific service. Very loud. In short, you can much better food, a quieter atmosphere at cheaper prices at any Chinese restaurant.
Everything we eat at Wok n Fire is great
Birthday dinner by request.
outstanding food, service and atmosphere. It's one of our favs
We've eaten at the St. Charles Wok'n'Fire many times in past and had a great meal. This time, however, the meal was not good. The steak satay appetizer was burned to a crisp . . . they even managed to skewer and char beyond recognition a piece of fat. The manager was sent to our table to discuss this appetizer and said that she noticed it was charred beyond recognition, but she didn't have a minute to circle back to take it away because she was dealing with some other issues. Hmmm, makes you wonder what's going on with this restaurant. My pad thai was not cooked to the flavor/temperature I had asked it to be. The chicken in it must have been cooked by the same unskilled griller because the chicken was overcooked and had a charred/burned flavor that overwhelmed the rest of the dish. We'll be giving this restaurant a break for a while.
Food is always good and the service was good.
It was our server’s first night as a waiter. The drinks were wrong and he brought of the garnishes for my drink in the palm of his hand. He stated he had never poured Prosecco before and asked my cousin how much he should fill her glass. There were just a lot of little things. At one point the manager came to apologize for him bringing over my lemon and lime the way he did yet she didn’t even offer to make me a fresh drink. That I think was the part that surprised me the most. Don’t come apologize and acknowledge it was bad but do nothing to rectify it.
I especially appreciate the Gluten Free menu as I have Celiac.
I really enjoy Wok n Fire, though this was our first time at this location. The food is tremendous. Unfortunately the environment and service were lackluster on this visit. We were seated in a booth very close to the kitchen and employee 'break area' -- very noisy. It also seems that they've put some very bright lights over the booths, almost a spotlight of brightness, not very cozy. For a special occasion night out (which was noted in our Open Table reservation), it was a bit of a disappointing visit all in all.
Great staff that gave an excellent experience with tasteful food to match.
Delicious! Friendly and attentive waiter, casual atmosphere, not too noisy. Nice place to go for dinner. We tried some new things that were very good. The Yum Yum rolls and tuna sashimi are favorites.
For spending over $200 you would at least expect a properly cooked steak. It was completely raw in the middle. So disappointing
Host was unawsre of my request on OpenTable for a quieter table. He placed us in the walkway, and when I said I had made a request for a quieter spot, he said "we don't see those requests". Food was mediocre, but high priced. Vegetables are available as an added side dish, added price. Very hip spot, but lots of better food options close by.
Waited at our table over 15 mins before anyone came to take drink order. Even after telling the hostess we still had to flag someone down. They kept apologizing. After 20+ mins We finally got a server who was nice and again apologized and said we weren’t her table but she would take care of us. The food was meh it was like an expensive Panda Express The sushi presentation was terrible just globs of sauce with a leaf stuck in it. We were given a free appetizer coupon for our next visit which we thought was funny because we will never be back. Really Poor management someone should have known we were being ignored.
Great Bday dinner for our 18 Year Old Daughter! 1 item was not good when food was served, Manager promptly stopped by the table, addressed the issue and took off the bill!
The meal was good overall. We ordered an appitizer that was chicken on skewers. We inspected one of the chicken on skewers and found it to still be raw. We let the waitress know and she got us a new appitizer. We cracked jokes about it with her afterwards. The main meals were brilliant and tasted very good.
Hot and Sour soup was mostly broth. Dumplings were just OK. Entree, meh.
I like Wok n Fire in Wheaton a lot, and so I decided to venture to the one in St. Charles to ensure it was just the same. As always, the food was delicious and for a good price. However, a few notations for improvement and future success:
- I was not greeted upon arrival and I had to physically get the attention of the host to check in for my reservation. Both people behind the host stand seemed frazzled.
-We were seated 10 minutes after our reservation time, however, we were accommodated with a table swap as we wanted a booth.
-Our server was a bit behind but apologized for the delay. There was a huge delay in receiving drinks. We had received an appetizer and finished it before receiving a first round on drinks. Very disappointing...
Service came down a bit with this visit, along with ambiance going up and noise level going up as it was homecoming weekend. If that were not the case I'm sure everything would have been the same old 5 * as it usually is!
Went there for our anniversary prior to seeing a show at the Arcada Theater. Happened to be St Charles' homecoming so it was packed with teens in their finest attire and a bit noisy. Nicely appointed interior, the staff sat us promptly and the menu was excellent. The Thai Sticky Wings were wonderful as were the Spring Rolls. The Crazy Roll was on par and while the Inky Roll was good the scallops on top were not seared as advertised. Connor our server was very responsive.
Went to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary with our son and his girlfriend. The menu has changed recently and many of our favorites are no longer on the menu which was disappointing to all of us. We were initially seated at a table by the busy front door area and asked for a booth instead. The host told us that it was reserved for Geneva high school students homecoming attendees. There were no homecoming high school students anywhere in the restaurant during our entire time there. The host choose to seat a family at the booth instead, completely ignoring our request to sit there. Poor customer service by Wok-n-Fire, especially since we are frequent diners at the restaurant. Very disappointed in the restaurant and the lack of service by the host.
Best service best pad Thai around
Kids playing drums on their plate with forks.
Parents did not care.
Meeting a friend.
Food seems to get worse every time we go. Service was not very friendly. Noise level is high.
Staff is very nice and timely. I think the food is a tad expensive for what you get now since the menu changed. Really miss the “governors”.
It took a very long time to get our food. The chicken lettuce wraps had more veggies and barely any chicken. When asked for more chicken was told we’d have to pay more. My son ordered a side of fries and took 20 minutes to get it as well as the extra chicken. I would go back to see if it’s better the next time. If not the South Barrington location isn’t too much further and I know their service and food is amazing.
We love Wok-n-Fire. We have never had a bad experience there. The food is wonderful, the staff is friendly. Great restaurant!
Had dinner with friends from out of state. They enjoyed the food, service and ambiance of Wok-n-fire.
Just a nice night out for sushi with my 17 yo daughter.
Good place for 14th Birthday Celebration!
Food and service excellant. For some reason, they did not have on file the opentable reservation.
Great food and drinks!
We’ve been to Wok n Fire numerous times and have really enjoyed it. We were surprised when we arrived to see the menu had been reduced to a single two-sided document with several favorite items missing. The food tasted fine, but the quality seemed to have been reduced slightly too.
Our waiter was outstanding! Food was great
Very nice place to eat good ambiance , the prices are very reasonable
Great for families, dates and business meetings. The food was delicious, first time trying any of the noodle dishes and now it on our list to order again - great flavor, love the spice!! Can't wait to go back
