We had a wonderful Sunday brunch! The food is always amazing and they can fine-tune any dietary request.
Was a great evening out with family. Food was tasty and the ambiance was nice.
Thanksgiving. only comment is that the Champagne cocktails we ordered were only at room temperature and were not cold. I did mention this to the waiter when I ordered a second glass but the 2nd was the same and waiters seemed too busy to really stop and listen to us at the table so we had to ask for a few things repeatedly. For a nearly $1000 tab, I expected a little closer attention.
We like sitting at the bar for drinks. This was our first time eating at a table, for thanksgiving. Service was verrrry slow and not that great. We were by a wall and our server had to really maneuver through a lot of tables to get to us. For a $180 meal, I wouldn’t recommend a fixed price menu. Ok spot to bring kids, was very loud and our baby didn’t bother anyone when she was being irritable.
Everything was great, except that afterwards they told OpenTable that we were a no-show. That ruined our over all experience. We were actually a little early, we made reservations, we paid good money, and left a large tip.
Excellent food and service. We went for the Thanksgiving dinner and it was perfect. There were several options for each course to please all the preferences in our family. The ambience was pleasant; a nice mix of fine dining and casual comfort. I would take visiting family and friends to this restaurant.
Service: Our waiter made sure our food was served altogether and he’s very friendly and attentive.
Food: it was Thanksgiving. My family and I ordered the thanksgiving course. The dad’s vegan option (Cauliflower with lentil) was great and my mom’s ‘Simple Fish’ is very tasty. My squash ravioli was good but in the oily side.
Quality food! Well prepared. Even the first sip of my mimosa told me I was in for good meal. The portions were large. A rarity but a choice of smaller serving would have been good. Couldn’t finish!
The fish and chips is good with fresh cut chips but Tied House is better. The deviled eggs need a little more punch in flavor.
Since we had a reservation, we were seated right away. The staff was friendly and asked if there was a special occasion. Since we were celebrating three birthdays, the waitstaff made a mental note and during dessert time, brought out delicious crème brulee for our birthday people. The appetizers and entrée food was delicious and lovely in presentation, as well. The wait staff was considerate of our food needs -- sauce on the side, etc. We were not hurried, and enjoyed a delightful lunch with co-workers. I will definitely come back here and recommend it for my executive.
the décor and ambiance were really nice and we were surprised to get a table at 5:30pm. My wife and I had the salmon and short ribs and both were outstanding! One thing that you can always tell if a restaurant is good or bad is their coffee and it was very good!
waiter was very attentive and helpful (he recommended one dessert over another and it was the right choice!)
The pan seared scallops were amazing. Our wait person was wonderfully gracious and accommodating.
Good overall vibe when you first walk in! A bit on the noisy side but tolerable. Food was delicious and good portions. Waiter needed to be reminded to bring my tea, which he brought after we started our dessert and after I reminded him!
Jose at the bar was amazing!! Juan our sever was the best!! Amazing evening!!
We've eaten at Scratch multiple times. We've learned to eat early as it gets really busy, and of course, noisier as the evening progresses. Slow cooked short ribs very tender. The slight dryness is modified with delicious mirepoix. Pear tartlet too yummy for words.
The service was inattentive although we were there during a slow time. The food was ok but not seasoned well. The ambiance was fine it was very very quiet at the time we arrived and left between 11:30am and 12pm.
I most likely will not go back.
Always great food, and a comfortable atmosphere. A good spot for meetings, because it's easy to carry on a conversation. This time I tried the fish and chips with a pear salad from the lunch menu, and both were excellent
Good food. Service was bit spotty. It's a bit pricey but so is almost any other good restaurant in Mountain View.
Loved this place! We were just out for breakfast but this place is no Denny’s. Quite hip and spacious, it’s much more elegant than what you’d expect. The service I gave 4 stars, that is based on the type of restaurant it is. More casual, the less expectation I have. The server was friendly but seemed to not be too experienced. The food is legitimate. Our daughter had chicken and waffles and my husband and I had “create our own omelets”. All were fresh and delicious. The space is great for large parties and perhaps knowing you’ll get a table immediately when you don’t have reservations. I must say, they did knock it out the ball park with the bread basket and the bloody Mary’s! The bloodies were extremely flavorful with a bite, but well balanced . I am skeptical of ordering bloody Mary’s because nothing compares to the Slanted Door version, with exception of Scratch, a rare art in the spirits world. Thanks Scratch, we’ll be back!
Hadn't been to Scratch for a while and we took an out-of-town guest there. Was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately our waiter totally forgot about us after we ordered and got our drinks. After 20 minutes we got the attention of the maitre'd and 10 minutes later the attention of another waiter who finally came to take our dinner order. After that the service was quite good. My salmon was cooked just the way I wanted. Our guest enjoyed her butternut squash ravioli and my husband his clam chowder. The local baby greens salad was too salty for me while the other two thought it was good. I was disappointed with the service but I thought our dinners were quite good.
The dishes offered on the menu looked very appealing, but a few had problems—the vegetarian risotto was way undersalted and the spinach was way OVERsalted. The Colorado lamb chops were delicious, but at $48 for two small rib chops, vastly overpriced. Ambiance and service were great! If you’re looking for a place to spend all your money for no discernible reason, this is it. We happily eat in relatively expensive restaurants in SF, this one left me feeling I’d been ripped off.
We went for lunch, I had the shrimp louis salad and my wife had the truffle mushroom flatbread. The louis salad was a little small for an entre salad and the dressing was a creamy vinaigrette and NOT a louis dressing. The four shrimp were large and tender but the egg could have used salt (none on the table). The flatbread was sparse on mushrooms, olives, and cheese. The wild mushroom flatbread at Tied House is FAR better. I don’t think we will order either dish again.
Great place for dinner with colleges, great food and drinks
Food is always exceptional. Craft cocktails are excellent and nice selection of wines. We were celebrating a birthday and our server helped us make very special.
Food quality, and service were excellent! I came to celebrate my birthday and they even treated me to a delicious Brownie Sundae!
Food was nothing special. Certainly not commensurate with the prices. Not too many customers the day we were there - maybe this is the reason why. Would not recommend it.
Modern setting serving delicious American cuisine.
Varied menu, and food was good. Nice pour on the bubbles.
Bartender was scattered & had no sense of timing
Very nice menu with a lot of options to please a variety of tastes. Excellent wine selection.
Great fried chicken! Cheerful service. Excellent menu choices.
Weird. Service was off. Food was great. I have been here several times and it’s usually great. This time was less great.
I LOVE the vegetarian options at Scratch. Unfortunately we seem to come on a night where service was lacking. While the staff was amazing, the wait time for drinks and the the wrong food that arrived was disappointing. I am hoping it was just an off night because I do love their menu and ambience.
Pliny the Elder and meatloaf. Absolutely fantastic.
Very good wine list. Food is good and plentiful. Quite pricey. Very noisy
We had the traditional eggs Benedict and the Scratch pizza flatbread and both were very good. It’s lovely to sit out on the patio for brunch at a table by the hedges and watch the parade of people on the sidewalk.
This place is great for business lunches, meetings, etc. Great setting and fantastic food. I have no idea why it's not busier during the day when other, very mediocre restaurants are packed for lunch? One of my Mt View favorites for sure!
I'm the executive assistant supporting two teams. On that day I had two separate dinners. The restaurant was so amazing and accommodating for all my several changes. I attended one of the dinners and really enjoyed my time there, the food and service was excellent.
Superb food and attentive (and expeditious!) service. This will be our go-to restaurant when we have Theatreworks tickets.
The food is always good at Scratch. However, the salad I ordered had too much arugula and couldn't find the string beans that were supposed to be in my salad. Everything was buried under the arugula, but the tuna ahi was very good, but sparse. It is always very quiet when I go there and the food is made from "scratch" so that is why they call it Scratch. The atmosphere is very nice. However, the name of the restaurant is not very visible.
