Though the menu seems pricey the items are pretty generous and everything tastes fresh and delicious. Our meal consisted of the duck confit appetizer roll, lovely calamari with excellent dipping sauce, and one of the 'named' rolls--the Japonese was the one we had. Enjoyed a couple of 16 oz draft beers, reasonable at $8, and we had had enough to eat and drink. Bigger eaters might need another roll or a main to share, but it seems like the kitchen and sushi chefs know what they're doing.
Nice dinner out with a friend
We very much enjoyed our visit to Yoshi's but we were going to sit in the back but the table smelled like someone had peed. We moved up front and the waitress told us that it was actually spilled soy sauce that had fermented. Either way, this should have been taken care of before seating anyone in the back.
Nice venue & good food before the show.
They do a great job, everything that comes out of the kitchen tastes good.
Yoshi's is exceptional. Love the ambiance and delicious food! Everything was perfect for a perfect evening with Hiroshima!
We’ve been to Yoshi’s several times over the 10+ years. We enjoyed our time there. We usually go when Hiroshima plays.
We made reservations for 530, we were seated promptly.
Our server Midiri was very pleasant, somewhat attentive. But you had a packed house so it was understandable.
My husband ordered the salmon... he loved it, not so much the spaghetti squash.
I ordered the shrimp and scallop dish. I had to wait a while for it. In fact my husband had to ask the server to check on my food. My husband got his at least 15 minutes before me. And it was very greasy. I won’t order that again.
Otherwise, we had an enjoyable evening.
The food was all well-prepared and well-plated. It was mostly excellent, particularly the fried oysters, pork chop, and brownie dessert. I did find the brussels sprouts forgettable, and my companion's main dish was bland. Our waitress was friendly, and very attentive despite being busy. The only other downside was that I found the room very noisy, and it was sometimes hard to carry on a conversation. I recommended it to someone the very next evening, and definitely plan to come back.
Yoshi's is always top drawer, best food in the East Bay!
Excellent appetizers, sushi, entrees and dessert. World class jazz venue. Superior service. Validated parking. Perfect evening with friends.
One of the best venues for dining and entertainment in the bay area.
Our past two experiences, the wait staff was excellent!
Great jazz club that has great food. Performance space has good acoustics and seating. Size is not too large but not intimate. Overall a great experience. Go for both dinner and a show.
Wonderful pre-show experience.
I have eaten at Yoshi's many times, in 3 locations -even before it became a world famous jazz venue!
Dinner at Yoshi's in 2019 is excellent on its own, but combining dinner and a jazz concert is even better! Eating dinner before the show gives you preferential seating. The food is fresh and creative, and the service is quick and efficient (which is important if you are going to the show).
Dinner before the show, four of us, two like Japanese sushi and so forth and enjoyed. We only eat cooked seafood and ordered spinach salad and shrimp tempura which we enjoyed. Reservations are necessary when there is a performance, every table was full. We called to let them know we would be 15 minutes late and they held our table. In my opinion, Jack London Square is a bit desolate at night, but it all worked OK because Yoshi is in the same building as the parking garage and there were lots of other folks attending.
food great. service a little slow, but pretty good. except server or bus person kept bumping into my chair (painful!) Like the feature of having seats for show reserved while we eat, so we don't have to worry about standing in line.
Great place to grab a delicious meal before stepping into a live music venue.
Great way to eat before your music. The restaurant does the music seat selection while you are eating.
Food came out very fast. A bit hectic.
High noise level.
Food was excellent
The aviance of the restaurant and concert venue was great.
Had a problem with my tickets. Cindy in the box office made it all go away. My friends and I had a great time. We will be returning soon. Thanks!!!
Thank you for providing my husband & I a very pleasant evening on Saturday, November 2, 2019. We ordered 2 starters (hamachi/mango & kobe skewers). For me, the hamachi was the prize! Melt in your mouth deliciousness. Our entrees were scrumptious as well: I ordered the scallops - the combo of the scallops, pork belly, umeboshi plum sauce & shishito pepper sauce created the "perfect bite." My husband ordered the planked salmon. Again, thank you.
Wait staff and seating was fabulous!
Very poor service.
My wife’s food took a very long time. I was done with my meal when hers eventually came out. They gave her some soup while she was waiting but I think they should have done more. Maybe some sort of discount for waiting so long.
I always love dinning here with the superb food and cool atmosphere...
We usually dine at Yoshi's when we have tickets to a show in the club. I personally preferred the older style sushi menu. I had the spinach and bacon salad and a rainbow roll. The salad was quite good. I thought the roll was somewhat bland. My wife (who won't eat raw fish) had an avocado roll and a side of the brussel sprouts. She said the roll was good, and we both enjoyed the brussel sprouts. The food is expensive; we justify this as a way to get good seating for the show without standing in line.
Band and food were amazing!!!
Delicious sushi! And great a show!
I always have great experiences at Yoshi's. You can't go wrong. The customer service and the best shows. The food is good , I always try something new. The waitress was very attentive . Thank you Yoshi's.
Second time here for dinner and a show. Great service, great food, great atmosphere.
We were not told we would not be seated in dining until we got there (or we would have gotten a diff show time). Maybe something to put on open table...
Wanted to have a special table and setting for our anniversary, but we sat at the bar.
Good food tho and the show was amazing.
Just like to be more Informed when booking. Cheers.
I’ve been going to Yoshi’s for years, and I’m sure many others have as well. I enjoy the atmosphere, the food is great, service is courteous and polite, just a little slow on serving the entrees. The sushi is served promptly.
Had dinner before the Euge Groove show. Food was fabulous (Ribeye melted in my mouth) & service very good. Because we had dinner before show, we also ended up with prime seating (front row table) for show. The hostess checks when you arrive & your reserved seating for show is delivered to you dinner table almost before your first drink. If you order bottle of wine with dinner you can take any remaining with you into show and avoid further expense.
Enjoyed pre event meal with a few family members. Had duck confit with sauce and fried oysters, bottle of Cabernet. Had beet salad with arugula. For entree I got spider roll, others had salmon and food came out quick and was very tasty. I had brownie for dessert. Saw Euge Groove and went to meet/greet in order to get a better seat. Not dissappointed. It was wonderful. Price for dinner for 4 was expensive and so were tickets, but we do t go out a lot so I still enjoyed it!
This was our first visit to Yoshi's. We very much enjoyed both our dinner and the show in their attached, but separate, entertainment venue. Yoshi’s suggested making dinner reservations about 1-1/2 to 2 hours prior to the show and purchasing “standard” show tickets. We are glad that we followed this advice and selected 2 hours ahead.
When we arrived we were greeted and seated on time without any wait. For dinner, our server was Michael S.: he was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Once we were seated, our server explained how the entertainment seating would work. (Part way into the meal one learns where one will be seated in the cabaret-style venue.)
Our dinners were superb: my wife’s baby spinach salad was excellent and so large I had to help her finish it. The broth of my miso was probably the best I have ever had. Our entrees were “Ume Hotate & Pork Belly” that included pan seared scallops and “Gindara,” a marinated black cod. In our opinions, both dishes were exceptionally well presented and prepared and the melding of flavors was fantastic. We very much enjoyed our desserts as well: beignets with berries and cream and the trio of gelato.
We had a relaxed dinner and a very smooth transition to the show seating. For show seats we were in the 2nd row of tables, which was only about 8 or 9 feet from the stage. (Excellent show too!)
We hope to return for additional dinner/show combinations in the future.
Our waiter was outstanding. The service throughout the night was excellent and they were accommodating. It was a great night.
Birthday celebration was the occasion. First seating by hostess was way too far away from everyone with lots of open tables still. We asked to be reseated to another table and the hostess accommodated. Our waiter forgot to bring a dessert order and apologized but it was too late to eat it as we were attending the late performance also. He offered to bring our orders into the performance and we accepted but had to wait about 15 minutes before the waiter in the performance venue located our orders. Also the waiters in the performance venue need to remember that we are watching a performance and they should not linger in front of the patrons while they count and figure out which table gets what drink or try to figure out what table gets which check.
Food and service was great
