Fat Pasha is chef Anthony Rose’s big, generous take on Mediterranean cooking, influenced by the Jewish food he grew up eating from his mother and bubbie. Opened in Toronto’s Annex in 2014, it’s built around bold flavours, vegetables, grilled meats, hummus, salatim, tahini, pickles and food made to share — including the whole roasted cauliflower that’s been there since day one.Fat Pasha earned a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand in 2022 and 2023. Rose spent years cooking in influential kitchens for Jonathan Waxman, Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Bradley Ogden before returning to Toronto and becoming Executive Chef of The Drake Hotel. He later opened Rose and Sons, Big Crow, Schmaltz Appetizing and Fat Pasha. Rose and Sons also cooked a special brunch at the James Beard House in New York with Bonnie Stern.More than a decade later, Fat Pasha is still what it was meant to be: loud, warm, casual and a little chaotic. Come with people you like, order too much food, put it in the middle and dig in.
