Im April 1983 eröffnete das National Exemplar sein erstes Lokal in Ohio's Wahrzeichen, dem Mariemont Inn. Das Gasthaus wurde Mitte der 1920er Jahre als kleiner Teil der einzigartigen Gemeinschaft Mariemont von Gründerin Mary Emery erbaut. Das National Exemplar wurde basierend auf dem Wissen benannt, dass Mary Emery ihre sich entwickelnde Gemeinschaft einmal als National Exemplar, und damit als Modellgemeinschaft, bezeichnet hatte. Das National Exemplar ist ein nachbarschaftliches Full-Service-Restaurant und serviert an sieben Tagen der Woche Frühstück, Mittagessen und Abendessen.
