   Dined in the early evening at Erbaluce for my birthday, prior to a night out with a friend. The best experience we've had in a while! The service was absolutely wonderful, and each course was carefully and tastefully prepared (highlight: carbonara). We had asked to share each course, and they did not hesitate to accommodate. Returned after our show for dessert :)

   We convened the family for a birthday soiree at Erbaluce, one of our favorite smaller Boston Italian restaurants, and couldn't have made a better choice. The ambiance is perfect for such an event (on the quiet side so you can actually have a pleasant conversation without straining to hear and be heard), the food was delicious (especially the razor clam special appetizer and the lemon panna cotta!), the wine list ably supported our interest in a little indulgence, and the service was friendly and attentive, as it always is. We highly recommend Erbaluce!

   Great meal, but most of all appreciated the wine selection and finding a table that could accommodate our baby’s stroller.

   We visited this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. We got there slightly late (at 7:08 for a 7:00 PM reservation) and we weren't seated for another ten minutes. Service was slow, food was spotty, two party members had sirloin and were thrilled...two of us had pasta and it was "meh"...carbonara undercooked...pasta with mushrooms definitely something I could make for myself at home. We had originally made reservations for another restaurant in the North End...and we wanted to branch out...it wasn't worth the effort. We were here for an overnight in Boston for my friend's birthday...nice stay at the Langham. This was a low point for the weekend.

   We arrived 15 minutes early and were shown a table for two that was just inside the entrance hallway to the dining room. Another table for two was empty that would have been less trafficked and quieter but we were told that it had been "reserved". IOW..we were stuck with the worst table because we hadn't been to this restaurant before and didn't have the foresight to reserve a better table. The lighting at this table was dreadful and had to use a cell phone flashlight to read the menu. When patrons were exiting, they would come so close to the table that their coats would find their way over the food. The wine list was all obscure Italian labels...written in Italian. I had to ask for assistance to select a wine as I couldn't decipher the list. The hostess did offer an off list wine which we tried and it was quite good. The food was extremely well prepared and presented. Service was OK but the wait staff knew just enough about the food and nothing about the wine list.

   Delicious meal. Wait staff asked about theatre start time and made sure meal was prepared so we could get to the theater on time

   Sometimes restaurants that have been open for a long time enter a phase where things fall apart ever so slightly. Not Erbaluce: the service, wines, and food are as good, or better, than they were when the restaurant first opened and began earning rave reviews a decade ago. Our dinner was superb -- in particular, my wife loved her pasta caccio e pepe with a nice shaving of truffles on top. It was an outstanding example of the dish. We didn't order any of the entrees this time, but I was tempted, as I always am, by all of them. We've always had good service at Erbaluce: always professional but never over the top. And you can count on your waiter to have good recommendations for a wine to accompany your dinner. There are a lot more options for excellent pasta in the greater Boston area than there were when Erbaluce opened, but it's well worth visiting. Not just once, but multiple times.
