Nestled in the heart of Houston’s West University neighborhood at 6119 Edloe Street, Maximo is a progressive Mexican restaurant from the Local Foods Group team that combines authenticity and adventure. Nearly everything is done in house under Executive Chef Adrian Torres with mentorship from Local Foods Group Creative & Culinary Director Seth Siegel-Gardner. Nixtamalized tortillas are just the start; corn kernels are boiled, soaked and ground into masa, imparting maximum flavor into a dedicated masa section on the menu featuring sopes, tetelas and even cornbread, along with a list of ever-changing taco options. Shareable plates, from crudos and salads to entrees and desserts, entice guests to explore. The restaurant is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4 - 9 p.m. for dinner service and Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. for brunch and dinner service.

This place is a fabulous hidden gem! Hands down the best margaritas in town. Food is incredible. Some small bites. Not the typical Mexican restaurant but soooo delicious. Mole is my favorite!

Terrific goodness coming from the kitchen, often with some unexpected flavor combinations that work well. Quality is high, and prices are reasonable. Margaritas are top shelf, and the wine list has plenty of gems that pair well with the food. Plus, staff is extremely knowledgeable about the progressive Mexican dishes. Chef Adrian can expect a nod from James Beard soon.

Chef Adrian has done a masterful job with Maximo and has learned well from his time at Xochi and Belly of the Beast. The dishes were amazing - full of flavor and creativity. Everything from the Guacamole to the Tuna Tiradito to the Squash Blossom Tetela were absolutely delicious. I expect he will follow in Chef Bille's shoes and bring home a Michelin star soon. We can't get back there soon enough.

We've been to Maximo quite a bit, but never for Brunch. It was excellent, great service, interesting food/plates, etc. Everything was great and we'll be back again for brunch!

We’ve been to Maximo several times and each time is better than the last. The new drinks on the menu are very very good, and the food always hits.

The place was smaller than I expected; however, the food was delicious. We went there to celebrate my daughter's 29th birthday, and she loved it.
