As i sat at the table, the waitress came to take my order and asked how many people would be with my party and i said 4 but a 5th may stop in but we'd probably be standing & sitting throughout the game so we would just make room. She went on to tell me people can't be standing around bc staff needs to get through. Understandable but i I was at one of four of the high tops (with 4 seats)next to the bar where there was plenty of room to move around. My friends were fighting traffic and rain like the rest of Chicago so i was waiting on my drink and talking to the neighboring table. An older gentleman then comes up to my table and tells me I can't just hold the table if my friends aren't coming bc its a special event. I let him know i had a 615 reservation, they were on there way and no one communicated the fact that the entire party needed to be here when I was seated. Side note: there were plenty of empty tables in front of the bar & upstairs so there weren't people waiting to be seated. Around 630, he comes up to me again asking how long until my group shows up & that they needed to get here within ten minutes. I'm not sure if it was the stress of a possible busy night but his approach was so rude & aggressive. I got up and txt my friends to meet at another place nearby. We ended up having a great night in the neighborhood but needless to say I wont ever go in here again even though i walk by it multiple times a day. I placed a reservation for 6 people and when I showed up they said 'sorry we are not taking reservations'. When I showed them the reservation I made earlier that day, they said 'too bad, we're not honoring that'. They didn't offer a later time or anything - in fact, the guy I suspect was the owner cussed me out for trying to understand why we couldn't eat there and told me to leave. It was appalling and downright offensive. I am never going back under this ownership - with this treatment and having seen the normal traffic there I'm sure new management will be in there sooner rather than later.","rating":{"food":1,"service":1,"ambience":1,"value":1,"noise":"ENERGETIC","overall":1,"__typename":"ReviewRating"},"user":{"numOfApprovedReviews":12,"nickname":"bfr86","metro":{"metroId":3,"displayName":"Chicago / Illinois","__typename":"Metro"},"initials":"b","isVip":null,"isLoggedInUser":false,"profileColor":"PUMPKIN","profilePhoto":{"photoBySize":null,"__typename":"PublicDinerProfilePhoto"},"__typename":"ReviewUser"},"helpfulness":{"up":0,"down":0,"score":0,"__typename":"ReviewHelpfulness"},"publicRestaurantReply":null,"submittedDateTime":"2016-11-01T19:09:07Z","dinedDateTime":"2016-10-29T20:00:00-05:00","type":"OPENTABLEVERIFIED","fromPreviousConcept":false,"highlight":null,"photos":[],"__typename":"ReviewSearchResult"},{"reviewId":"OT-264745-712-130057386273","text":"They didn't have our reservation and then ignored my request to be in the bar and tried to sit us in an undesirable location instead. Since we used to go to PJClark's, we knew the basic layout of the restaurant. The new Tip Top uses a quiet palette of colors and good table lights. We ordered the special for that day, Fried Chicken, but was told that the special was going to be a different chicken dish. We were a bit disappointed, but when the chicken dish came, we were quite pleased by the taste, the temperature (hot) as it should be. The spices were quite wonderful and the overall meal was very good. We plan to make a habit of Tip Top. We live a couple of blocks away and look forward to our returning to Tip Top.","rating":{"food":5,"service":5,"ambience":4,"value":5,"noise":"QUIET","overall":5,"__typename":"ReviewRating"},"user":{"numOfApprovedReviews":24,"nickname":"nedricco","metro":{"metroId":3,"displayName":"Chicago / Illinois","__typename":"Metro"},"initials":"n","isVip":true,"isLoggedInUser":false,"profileColor":"PUMPKIN","profilePhoto":{"photoBySize":null,"__typename":"PublicDinerProfilePhoto"},"__typename":"ReviewUser"},"helpfulness":{"up":0,"down":0,"score":0,"__typename":"ReviewHelpfulness"},"publicRestaurantReply":null,"submittedDateTime":"2016-08-06T18:19:10Z","dinedDateTime":"2016-08-03T17:45:00-05:00","type":"OPENTABLEVERIFIED","fromPreviousConcept":false,"highlight":null,"photos":[],"__typename":"ReviewSearchResult"},{"reviewId":"OT-1-466765455-21939882","text":"Feles like PJ's with a little new decor.
